Chelmsford 1 – 3 Cambridge South
On Sunday 20th October, Cambridge South HC Boys played their first competitive fixture as an 11- a-side team in the opening round of the England Hockey U14 Tier 2 Championships Cup. It was a superb team performance by CSHC winning 3-1 against a strong and disciplined Chelmsford side. The game was end to end with a number of opportunities for both teams bringing some excellent saves from CSHC keeper Toby Unsworth as well as the Chelmsford keeper. Goal scorers for CSHC were Luke D’Arcy (FG 17’), Noah Brown (FG 22’) and captain David Swift (FG 45’).

Team manager on the day, Rob Barton, was keen to stress the significance of the result: “This is South’s first victory in this national competition but it won’t be the last. The current squad is very special and the players know they should be proud of their tremendous efforts today”. Team coach James Cobbe added: “It was a brilliant game, enjoyable to watch and filled with great moments from all players. Well done U14 boys!”
We await the draws for Round 2 of the Boys Cup and Round 1 of the Girls Plate. These games are due to happen soon – Sunday 10th November. Fingers crossed for home draws!
