Clean Sheet

Joe Whittaker

Notable mentions:

  • Chris Rigge voted Ron MOM for his umpiring.....(not sure he understands what 'MOM' stands for?)

  • Ky took his dog for a walk at half time.

  • Dave M took out John.

  • Joe had (unsuccessful) banter with Ron.

  • John G stole(?) one of Charlie's goals.

  • Simon J and James had an in-depth discussion about one-handed hockey - Jelley lost?

  • Shahzad didn't touch the ball (again).

  • Yellow doesn't look good on us.

  • Tom P blocked Simon F and got a green card for it (although I'm pretty sure Simon deliberately ran into him in desperation....?)

  • 15 players is too many - but oh no, the 3s don't want to take anyone when it's a nearby game do they?!

Chairman Greaves' thoughts:

  • "Dave M took out John"......................I wish to clarify that this refers to John Sharpe. I like Dave M but not enough to allow him to take me out anywhere.

  • "John G stole(?) one of Charlie's goals"......that's slanderous. Others around confirmed that Charlie's shot was missing the goal, so I did exactly the right thing in muscling in, distracting their excellent GK Rob W to bundle the ball into goal. I think that is what I'm there for. Doesnt take anything away from Charlie's excellent performance, and his earlier stonking goal.

Mini Monck's thoughts:

  • Excellent saves from both the goalies...oh wait.

Jelley (Simon)'s thoughts:

  • You forgot to mention the exquisite demonstration of how to dribble up the left sideline performed by number 44 (of course, it was England Hockey's core dribbling skill no.6 The one-handed reverse side dribble)!
For anyone who needs to read up more on this wonderful move I recommend the following:

Charlie wanted to mention:

  • "Charlie's goal - the 5's conceded another short corner and as before expected a Dave Monk special from top of the D. With Joe calling on Charlie for a substitution, Charlie gave Ian a quick call to feed the ball short to the left of the D. Perfectly done, Charlie struck a clean shot along the ground into the far, right hand corner. 1-0. Charlie's effort rewarded with....being subbed!"
