The Match of Many Fouls

Grace Taylor

Bury St Edmunds didn’t know what hit them! There was some great hockey from the Ladies 2s in the first half. Our defence was solid, with Valerie making some great switches around the back and Charlotte making some cracking saves. Unfortunately our attack couldn’t quite convert, despite some excellent play from Abby, and we went into the second half 0-0.

Frustration grew when the score remained equal, and South were continuously pulled up for stick tackles and not retreating five metres! After warnings for the team, Lottie was unlucky to be 4.89m from the opposition when they took their penalty, resulting in a yellow card. Naomi was strong at the back, and the umpire noted that her language was too! Bury scored soon after, and South were defeated. Overall, a dramatic game for the Ladies 2s, but some great play in-between!
