On a cold morning in Cambridge the L3s gathered together for the return fixture against Newmarket 4s. The twelfth league game of the season, currently undefeated, having beaten them 14-nil in the away fixture, and a prediction of 22-nil seemed a target to go for, and the pressure for goals was on.

Team talk in the changing rooms; after the shock of Tuffers not having a hangover it was time to pile the layers on and head to the pitch.

Newmarket, with a keen young side, already on the pitch while we were looking around for our second umpire. Phone panic over - Chris is here, the game is ready to get underway.

Newmarket push back but within a few minutes the pressure is on them, our forwards putting together shot after shot at the goal but just can’t seem to break the deadlock.

Then Jess picks the ball up in midfield, sends the ball into the D, bypassing the defence, for Lauren B to coolly slip the ball past the keeper. One-nil.

Aoife straight off from the re-start wins the ball to pass out wide to Izzy, who drives into the D to the back line before crossing to Dani to scramble the ball across the line. Two-nil.

Off we go again. Jess to Laurie out wide, to Meg, who passes up the wing to Dani, who drives into the D and bangs the ball into the bottom right corner. Three-nil.

Maria picks the ball up to send it to Hayley, to Lauren B in the D who takes the shot. The keeper saves only for Lauren C to gather the rebound and slip the ball into the corne. Four-nil.

Jess wins the ball in midfield to play it out to the right, where Tuffers picks the ball up to beat one defender and fire home from the top of the D into the bottom left hand corner. Five-nil.

The next was virtually a repeat, with Jess passing to Izzy, to Tuffers at the top of the D to place the ball in the same plac. Six-nil.

Hannah to Jess, to Sarah, to Izzy, who drives up the wing into the D to slip to Emily, who finishes with a superb flick into the net past the keepe. Seven-nil.

Short corner struck out to Tuffers, who takes a shot for Dani to score on the rebound. Eight-nil.

Another attack up the middle from Jess, out to the wing to Dani who drives into the D to slip to Lauren B, who was brilliantly positioned to make it nine-nil.

Straight on the attack again, Jess drives up the middle and squares the ball to Tuffers, who rounds the top of the D and hits home past the keepe. Ten-nil.

Great run into the D by Aoife to win a short corner. Ball out to Tuffers who slips to Emily, who sweetly strikes in a goal. Eleven-nil.

Short corner brilliantly struck out by Lauren B to Tuffers, who bangs it low and hard into the bottom right corne. Twelve-nil.

Half time is here. It’s time to gather in the goal for Haribo, fluid intake and a great team talk from Loopy.

Subs to the sideline, chief moaner Tuffers saying how cold is it - I think bits are dropping off, we are underway!

Straight from the off we are piling on the pressure again, attacking, with Izzy on the left passing to Dani down the wing, who runs the back line slipping the ball neatly to a perfectly placed Lauren B to slip the ball past the keeper. Thirteen-nil.

Pressure back on as Jess surges up the centre of the pitch to strike the ball into the D for Dani to neatly slot home. Fourteen-nil.

Attacking the away team doesn’t stop, with a great run from Izzy on the right who slips the ball to the baseline, where Tuffers stretches out (oh my god, I've pulled my bum cheek!) to slip the ball back to Lauren B, waiting on the p-spot to fire home. Fifteen-nil.

Midfield pile on more pressure, with Lauren C running down the wing to cross to Dani, waiting for the cross with just the keeper to beat. Slips it in, sixteen-nil.

Great ball into the D, strike at goal which rebounds to Tuffers, who slips to the floor, somehow manages to mechanically robot up from the floor to win a short corner. Lauren B to Tuffers to strike, with the defence choosing to stay on the line: fires home, seventeen-nil.

Clock ticking down, coming into the last five minutes Jess creates a great move in the D to win another short corner. Jess hits out to Tuffers for her to fire home to make it eighteen-nil.

The final whistle goes, it’s celebration time. We have broken the one-hundred target, undefeated. Get the bubbly ready!
