Inspired by the Words of Wet Wet Wet's Greatest Hits, the L1s' Bring You CSHC v Pelicans

Katie Gibson

(To the tune of ‘Love is All Around’) We felt in in our fingers, we felt it in our toe-ohs. Nerves were all around us, and so the feeling grows.

(To the tune of ‘Sweet Little Mystery’) Our scoring has taken a tumble, but we’re still standing, … chorus … Say, Robs wouldn’t steer us wrong now baby, she wouldn’t steer us wrong. It’s just that sweet little mystery, that stops us score score score score. It makes us quake, sweet little mystery, that goalies save save save save. (credit: Pelicans’ goalie)

Ooohhh Scarecrow Katie ooohhh oooo

Didn’t we come to give you a sense of wonder?
Didn’t we come to win this claaash of the Titan?
Didn’t we to give you a match to remember?

(To the tune of ‘Cold Cold Heart’) Suddenly, we got a crazy feeling, then in harmony, we started passing triangles, now loss is hiiistory. Forget the time we mis-sed before-ore-ore. And we all know, Muzza’s goal to start-a-art.

Chorus : Cold cold game,
Much like the stars that shine so bright,
Cold cold hands of ours,
Don’t you remember,
The Cooil sisters are hereeee.

This is getting really hard and I’m not musical enough to carry the metaphor through! Hopefully you get the point that it was such a miserable wet rainy day that both sides struggled with slippery running conditions and it was tough to hold on to sticks.

South put up a good attack with strong play across the midfield and great work rates from Kim, holding the centre, with her sister Katie having a cracking game in defence alongside Hannah, stepping up and in front of the ball. Resulting in the Cooil sisters double header of joint MoMs.

Other MoM votes for Robs McLean and Maddie showed the strength of our defensive line, especially when Pelicans had a break. Although most of our play was attacking, South showed tenacity and determination to score another couple of goals in the second half, both from deflections. One slick and smooth top corner from Robs slipped to Alice, who fired it to Kim, placing it top corner; and the other a bit more of a grapple, hit and hope from the Lemon, Katie Gibson. It wasn’t in fact her valiant effort to direct a shoulder height ball at the goal but more the style in which she tumbled. Some fans call it gazelle-like elegance, others called it scarecrow-esque. Whichever it was, it was perfectly timed for the evening’s Halloween social, saving money and covering herself in scrapes and gashes. She’s nothing if not efficient.

The final score was three-nil to South as we continue our hard-fought plight towards promotion at the end of the season.
