Bravehearts

Sunny skies greeted the M5s for our annual trip to the heart of fenland.

New-boys Pete J and Roland L, both from north of the border, combined with M5 regulars to provide a formidable opposition for second in the table Wisbech.

Team orders were not to concede in the first half, which is exactly what we did. Although it would have been even better to have gone in ahead at half time, it was not to be despite South dominating possession and having several clear scoring opportunities.

As to plan, half time was the cue to raise our game and it wasn’t long before Jelley found some space on the right wing to drive into the opposition D and slot the ball past the keeper from a particularly tight angle. Within minutes a cross from the left found debutant Roland L perfectly positioned to thump the ball home past the stranded keeper.

As the clock ran down the home team upped their game and were unlucky not to even the score with several shots on target, but the Bravehearts held on to celebrate victory over a post-match feast of chilli jackets and cake.

MoM was a tie between Wilco and Pete J, the opposition casting vote being awarded to the former for a solid performance in midfield.

LoM went (rather unfairly on his debut) to Pete J for some spectacular sliding around in the mud and the small matter of a green card!

Brilliant debut, but unfortunately acrobatics in the mud and a green card attracted the LoM votes. Sorry Pete, I had you down for MoM if that's any consolation!
