Campaign Goals:

  • Finish the season unbeaten.
  • Secure the win to get three more points.

Activity:

  • Saturday 14th March, 12pm push back

Main Considerations:

  • Home advantage at Long Road.
  • The Dragons have been tricky opponents; do not underestimate them.
  • Avoid their very good, solid player at centre back.
  • We haven’t conceded a goal since 1st Feb.
  • Health warnings around coronavirus means we aren’t to make contact with each other.

Post Mortem of Activity:

  • A real emphasis on playing the wings and holding the structure.
  • A confident South started well, playing aggressively, securing a couple of short corners early on.
  • Bourne Deeping passed well up the pitch with great distribution from their CB and CM.
  • Goal 1: Well worked short corner routine just like in practice (we don’t). A beautiful deflection into the goal from Hazza on the post.
  • Goal 2: A ball hitting a BD foot on the line giving away a P-flick. Robs R walked up to the P-spot, ready to take the flick… A 50% conversion rate this season meant doubts were in the air but thankfully she scored, bottom right hand corner.
  • Bourne Deeping on the break were able to score their first goal.
  • Two-one at half time.
  • Second half a fairly even affair.
  • Goal 3: Lovely connection play up the pitch which Laura slipped passed the keeper.
  • Bourne Deeping weren’t done and managed to score another breakaway goal taking the score line to three-two.
  • Seventy minutess later - three points in the bag for the L1s.

Appendix:

  • Man of the Match nominations:
    • Robs Murray for great running, passing, good leads and tackles (Winner of MoM).
    • Harriet for a great deflection on the post.
    • Izzy for great running and shots on goal, very unlucky not to score.
    • Katie for great running around upfront.
    • Abi for never giving up, also good leads and tackles.
    • Amalia for great runs up the wing.
    • Rob R for good picks in the middle.
    • Maddie for good running and options off the ball.
  • Lemon-worthy comments/actions:
    • George: “I did do a lot of swearing but it’s my birthday.”
    • Robyn R: “Don’t touch the ball, girls.” (Don’t want to get Covid-19)
    • Robyn R: “Don’t chat back.” – Robyn R “Oi, Adam, whose foot was that?!”
    • Robyn R = socks and boots with a towel = A Look! Love.
    • Carly: Passing the ball to someone who had subbed off the pitch.
    • Coronavirus ruining everyone’s lives.

Commitment in the middle, putting in the tackles and lots of running on and off the ball.
