Camb South's Jamie Vardy

Connor Grant

The Mighty 3s march to the top of the league couldnt be stopped this week even with the delays on the start time due to an unfortunate accident earlier in the day... I'd suggested to my girlfriend to come along and watch thinking I'd play really well and be able to show off against a weary alford team after their long journey... Alas the 2 hour delay was a bit of a stretch for justifying staying to watch me run around in the rain so she decided against it setting me up for lemon well before the game even pushed back

The delay also allowed for a few members of the team to head off for a cheeky pub lunch, George A, Pete J and Jimbo snuck off for a rather large burger and pint to settle their pre match nerves, it turns out this pre match ritual? Might be one to try!

Once again I was confused to find myself standing on the pitch with no hangover lingering and no risk of seeing last night's takeaway reappear, special shout out to Boris - closing the pubs early has reduced my boozy Friday nights massively. However my hopes of playing well were quickly dashed when I found myself constantly passing to Alford - in hindsight I can happily say I was just giving them a chance so they didn't get too cross about the score.

Anyways onto the match, South started in their typical fast fashion with Ash nabbing an early goal. Alford however didn't get the memo about allowing us to score 4 before they score by quickly equalising. George A had by now had enough time to stomach his burger and hit a rapid fire hattrick with 2 strong strikes from the top of the d the pick of the bunch. Jonny continued his pursuit of Joe in the goalking standings by nabbing a goal before half time.

My halftime team talk was mainly used to have a go at myself for my poor game, the opposition overheard this and asked if we could all play worse to help them out, South however smelt blood.

Pete Creed continued his form of turning into prime Ahmed Musa on fifa 13 and ran rings around yet another team with alford unable to stop him scoring... If he could lift the ball over the keeper then Joe might have to keep an eye out in the goal king standings...

Oli Weston and Matt Need the last minute recruits from the 4s stepped in seamlessly demonstrating the depth in the club as they both picked up goals (I swear I'm cursed as I still can't score) then George picked up his 4th but with the final touch of the ball smacked it straight at the keeper tlo prevent himself getting his 5th.

A few special mentions:

Josh for running straight past us at 3 thinking he was late for the match even though we were delayed by 2 hours

George T great saves but make sure we don't spot you running over to stand with the ladies when you claim you're cold and want to go under the shelter…

Pete J for being Scottish

Scott Catley for taking some cracking photos, sadly I was the subject of a few mugshots…

Stay tuned for the big title clash against Peterborough

For dragging his girlfriend along for her to only go home before the match even started
