Derby Day

Meg Impey

T'was the first derby of the season for Cambridge 6s and what a derby it was. It was a strong start from the 6s with lots of action up in the 5s end in the first half, resulting in Ceri Richardson’s debut goal for South on her first match! Despite Ruth Faherty, May McCool, Elly Bull and Meg Impey’s valiant efforts to defend the goal with support from the proactive midfields Harry Lusty, Emma Larner, Charlotte Fraigneau and Louise Walker, the 6’s strong goalkeeper Claire Cormie couldn’t even fend off the hot shots from the 5s. Following some excellent attack from forwards Nicky Simler and Hattie Stanley, it still wasn’t a match for the 5s defence and goalkeeping resulting in an 8-1 final score. A great team performance from the L6s considering the last derby match scoreline, we pulled together and fought hard to produce a result we could take pride in.
