A trip to the borough…

Emma Julian

A fairly early start for the 3s this morning who eventually met in the back changing room. Some took a diversion through the oppositions changing room (a tactic we hadn’t planned!) and some erm, Suzi got there despite being pulled from her ironing and cleaning.

Anyway the team talk started with Louisa trying to pawn off a dress for the annual dinner and the girls all set their own goals for the game.

Tess opened the score early doors after receiving a pass from Em in the middle and sweetly secured us the lead. The girls in the middle continued to work hard, with Tabs doing her usual workhorse effort down the wing and Anna L was intercepting balls like no tomorrow, her feet even joined in a few times!!

Shortly after a cracking hit into the D by Steph, Tess found the deflection and tucked it away. However, there was some serious concern from the opposition that Tess was “bumming” in D!!!?

Moving on…. The back line were solid, great leadership from Han, lots strong passes around the back, with Rhi and Lucy having some super runs down the wings. A cross from Em, found Tabs in the D who slipped it to Bethan who having just moved into the forward line, calmly slapped it straight into the goal!!

Half time came and the girls regrouped and upped the hype. Another short corner was awarded and Super Steph received a perfect slip from Tess and rocketed the ball into the goal.

Louisa was working hard in the sweeper position this week, holding up the ball and distributing it well out wide and Amelia was holding that press every time. Despite the opposition blocking many of our balls, we found ourselves with another short corner. It was time for our super Steph to shine again; a quick take round the right of the D and once again she fired it into the goal.

Em had an aim of staying on her feet for the game and had announced she was about to take herself off, but the opposition decided to help her here by completely wiping her out at the top of the D.

Louisa stepped up and the girls rallied. Peterborough upped the pressure and secured themselves 3 short corners at the end of the game. Luckily our guest GK Suzi was too intimidating, nothing got past her and the final whistle was blown.

Steph was awarded POM for her lightening strikes and LOM went to Suzi - who despite being a cracking GK, prioritised her ironing this morning.. and well…

Anyone seen Amelia?

Ps. Don’t worry Suz, Marcus took her home, pleased with his chocolates after Han decided to throw his nice hot cup of tea in attempt to avoid the smell of baked beans!!
