A lovely day out in St Neots

Rhian O'Connor

What can I say about CSHC Mixed B,
A cracking bunch of lads and lassess they are you see,
A brilliant afternoon was had by all,
Chasing after a very small and hard little ball,
But all that effort was not in vain,
As a 3-0 win we did obtain.

Where to start but the palyer of the match,
Oh yes Suzi you are a catch,
Her stick like a wall,
She always gets the ball,
Described as fab, great, awsome, and amazing
St Neots didn’t know what they were facing.

A fight for lemon was had today,
As two players split the votes as play got underway,
Lets have Avi first,
You would think by now that she would be well versed,
In the art of getting to the pitch for warm up,
But didn’t even make it in time for push back!
Next is George T,
Oh where to start with he,
I will mention his attire so lacking,
Bare shins he had ready for hacking,
But it was the number of hand on his stick,
To which Mike shouted out so quick,
“TWO HANDS!!”

A few players had a little sit down,
They must have been tired from all that running around,
James Yu and George B took a tumble,
And me too over the ball I did stumble.

A special shout out to Dan is needed,
He is certainly a big reason why no goals were conceeded,
For his great interceptions,
And nimble change of directions,
Several MoM votes were well deserved!

The direction from the back,
Certainly did not slack!
With lungs that could put a baby to shame,
Both Mike and Dan did not let us rest during the game.
Keeping us in check,
There were all hands on deck!

Finally to the goals we move and oh boy there were three,
The first made Louisa jump up with glee,
A fantastic assist from Will to the post,
Helped in with a scoop nil – nil was toast.
The next two were Owens to take,
The second came off a beautiful break,
He danced and dodged round the defenders stick,
And slightly mis-hit the ball so slick,
But this unanticipated pace,
left the goal keeper with egg on their face,
And so the score was two – nil to us,
But still hungry for more we did not fuss!
The third I must say was a magnificent thing,
A brilliant arial to Owen, Will did fling,
A few steps more and he was at top D,
Once again celebrations - the score was three!

A great display of hockey from all,
As we showed St Neots a few things with a ball.
Now forgive me I am trying,
To get this all down with my questionable rhyming,
Until next time that is me,
Singing of for the day proud to be part of CSHC Mixed B.
