All of the Goals!

Suzi Pugh

On the morning of the game, the weather looked grey and dry but at exactly the moment the L3s stepped onto the pitch, the rain and the wind hit with full force. But it wasn’t enough to dampen our spirits. This was a really important league game against a team who are also in contention for the 2nd place spot!

We started well with goalkeeper Lou in the oppositions goal. As entertaining as this was, this didn't earn her lemon as we were so thankful for her stepping in to keeper last minute (even after a few g&t's the night before).

The first half started with some lovely passes around the back via Katie and South quickly got the ball to Em who scored the first of the goals! And what a goal It was!

City were a tough team though and just minutes later the score was back to 1-1. Maddy soon put us back out in front by scoring from a short corner. Even though after 20 minutes, the whole team were very, very cold and very, very wet the L3s played beautiful hockey. Steph played some fabulous crosses into the D and Anna L and Maddy bagged us two more goals either side of half time. City were able to pull a goal back to 4-2 and keep the match alive!

Later in the second half, we continued our scoring stream thanks to a deflection from Tess and Anna W who scored a wonderful flick thanks to a cross from Emma. An unfortunate high ball from Maddy caught a city player in the head and earnt her Lemon for hovering about for way too long, over-apologising and having to be called away by the captains. The player of the match went to the always amazing Emma Julian for her tireless midfield work and incredible goal!
