M2 8-2 Cambridge City Mens 4

Tom Blair

On the field, the players came to play,
A game of hockey on this fine day,
With sticks in hand, they dashed and darted,
Passing and shooting, the game had started.
The team was strong, determined and true,
Eight goals we scored, their opponents only two,
The crowd went wild, as the team surged ahead,
The other team fought back, but it was no use, they were dead.
Nik Patel returned to the forward line up,
And scored the final goal with a powerful strikeup,
The team rejoiced, they knew they had won,
But celebration continued, even though it was done.
The players hugged, high-fived, and cheered,
Nik's goal was the moment they all revered,
For they had won, but it wasn't just that,
It was the joy and camaraderie that they had.

As the players basked in their victory,
A commotion arose in the vicinity,
The men's first team had arrived,
To show support and help the team survive.
Their own match had just ended in triumph,
A win that avoided relegation, a celebration to plumb,
But they knew the importance of this game too,
And so they came to show their support anew.
With cheers and applause, they lifted the team up,
Their encouragement and energy, like a strong cup,
The men's first team knew how hard it could be,
To fight and win, and so they cheered on with glee.
And so the two teams came together,
A bond forged through a love of the sport, forever,
For they knew that in victory or defeat,
It was their shared passion that they must always greet.
And so they celebrated, as one big team,
Their triumphs and struggles, as if in a dream,
For they knew that it was not just about the score,
But the love of the game, that they always must adore.
