Ladies 4s v Ely City 1s

El Wager

On this fine Saturday morning, the sun was shining on the Ladies 4s as we set off into round two against Ely City 1s.
Off the back of recent games we were positive and confident going into the push back. With the sun behind us we started the first half strong and dominant, things looked promising!
Despite conceding the first goal of the match about ten minutes in, we kept our heads high and battled on.. we defended fiercely and attacked mightily and despite many unfortunate near misses and an epic fail from El on the top of the D (later awarding her LOM)… the score remained 0-1 at half time… leaving Ely feeling slightly rattled..
After a tang-fantastic (Mo) half time chat we began the second half.. unfortunately conceding another 4 goals in very quick succession.. from a series of short corners and impressive attacking play by Ely.
But this did not dampen us for long..! We hitched up our skorts and got stuck back in, looking threatening again for the rest of the game. The final whistle blew after many end to end plays and fruitless attacks :(
POM was fittingly spread across the team but Liv pipped everyone to the post, for her persistence and drive in the middle of the pitch. Notable mentions to Bex, Grace, Nic and Anne as well.
All in all, the score line did not reflect the game reality and everyone put in an epic shift, so deservedly we left feeling positive for the games ahead.
