M5 6-0 Spalding Mens 4

Matt Withington

.

I write this tonight after rolling the dice on a local curry restaurant on Saturday that I thought had a food hygiene rating of 4

It was a 1

So as you can imagine my Sunday has not been very pleasant

Nevertheless, we persevere, Saturdays game then was pretty good if not a little boring from a defensive perspective, but you can't really complain with a  6-0 victory, especially when it is the  M5's largest winning margin since 2019. A very nice sign of some forward progression after last year's debacle of a season. One of the major reasons for this high winning margin was an excellent press set by our front five, which Spalding where unable to cope with allowing us complete control of the game and our defence with very little to do (I'm not sure our keeper even touched the ball, I wonder if there's an award for that?)

6-0, what happened there then, well we had two goals from George's Betts as he looks to launch himself to the front of the running (2nd place now) for this years goal king race.

Two more goals from Danny J. One I must confess I didn't see and the other an excellent team goal and potential "early goal of the season contender"-James Mansell

A fabulous debut goal from Jude P. The future looks very bright here, he's coming for that club scoring record I'm sure.

Along with a final goal from Josh R which again I must admit that  I don't remember perhaps the Vio will have caught it.

This leaves the M5s poised and ready to take on their old rivals St Neots 3s next week in a spicy top-of-the-table clash
