L4s vs Ely City 1s

The Ladies 4th XI had a great start to the match against Ely with a goal within the first 12 minutes by Alex. Our defence were looking strong as the opponents made a beeline for a goal but we remained composed and stuck to our formation until a goal slipped through the gaps after many great saves from Selene.

As the match continued the each team had some great play but Ely seemed to be making the most of their strong attackers using the wing to their advantage. This then proved to be a weak link for South as our marking reduced with tiredness allowing a further 4 goals in within the second half of the match. As well as our formation breaking up on the odd occasion allowing our opponent an easy run to the goal.

Although the 5-1 result did not reflect some brilliant hockey and the improvements made within training, a huge well done to the team in keeping the momentum going throughout.

We now know some areas that need to be worked on and will look forward to the next match away at St Neots on 5th October.

POM was Selene and LOM was Faye and Alex
