M2 1-3 Bourne Deeping Mens 1
Jonny CampThis was always going to be one of Souths hardest tests of the season. Up against top of the league who had regularly been putting high scores past their opponents this season. That coupled with the 9am leave from Cambridge meant that it was a prefect opportunity to get your excuses in early and book something other than hockey to do on a Saturday.
The game started well, with Bourne scoring quickly and verifying their position in the league table. South kept plugging away however, reluctant to let Bourne have an easy morning but at half time the score stood at 2 – 0 against south. A rousing team talk by Eric at half time saw Creedy cleverly use the post for an alley-oop set up for Charlie CR to tap home a goal. Bourne then applied the pressure again, scoring to make the final score 3 – 1.
A big mention has to go to Joe who put in a huge performance on his first outing for south 2s and earned himself MOM. A highlight was a diving stick save on a drag flick PC!
South can take a lot of positives from the game, particularly restricting Bourne’s attack which many other teams in the league have failed to do. Next week South faces Peterborough at home, and a win would help them on the way to shoring up their position in the league as we head towards Christmas.
