Match Report: Field Hockey Team Falls 3-0 - A Lesson in Timely Preparation

Tildy Paul

In a spirited encounter on Saturday (23/11) at Wilberforce Road the Cambridge South Ladies suffered a 3-0 defeat against Cambridge University 2nds. While the scoreline definitely does not reflect the effort on the field, the game underscored an important off-field lesson: the value of punctuality.
A nice early pushback time of 10 30 (not meet time…) did not stop the Cambridge girls from going out strong,  and they put up a good fight but sadly let a small goal pass in the first half. Loopy, however, had denied a lot of other attempts, gaining her a well-earned title of player of the match. In Rhian’s beautiful words “she really is a keeper”.
In the second half, we came out strong again but sadly there where two more tiny tiny goals from the opposition, however our sterling support did inform us at the end that the score line was not representative and I am inclined to agree.
All in all there was great play and a lot of hope for the game next Saturday that we will be ready for (and I promise I won't be late).
Kind regards, Your lemon who has very much learnt her lesson.
