On a cold, wet, dark Saturday
Lottie FraigneauOn a cold, wet, and dark Saturday, Cambridge South L6 faced Bourne Deeping 2 in a challenging game under grim weather conditions. Despite the harsh environment and a tough first half playing against the wind, the team showed resilience and teamwork throughout the match.
The first half saw Bourne Deeping score 3 goals as we battled both the opposition and the elements.
However, our team refused to be disheartened and returned stronger in the second half. Sarah scored a well-earned goal, capping off a series of determined attacks led by our forward line of Sarah, Victoria, and Alice. Alice's relentless running, sharp positioning, and determination earned her Player of the Match.
Our midfielders—Hattie, Lyra, Molly, and Rosie—worked tirelessly, creating space with smart passes and providing essential support to the forwards. Rosie earned multiple Player of the Match votes for her stellar play and adaptability.
The defence, Astrid, Sammy, Flo, Lottie, and Frankie, demonstrated outstanding coordination and strength with strong tackles, making it tough for Bourne Deeping to extend their lead further.
Pedzi, as always, delivered an exceptional performance in goal.
Communication across the pitch has improved significantly, though the gusty wind sometimes made it hard to hear teammates and the umpire's whistle.
Despite the 3-1 final score in favour of Bourne Deeping, the game felt like a win for us. The team's commitment and hard work are beginning to yield positive results, and the improvement was evident. Even as we waited in the rain before the match, the team's spirits remained high—a testament to our camaraderie and determination.
We’re looking forward to building on this performance in the coming weeks. Well done, team!
