She's backkk

Hannah Muncey

And she’s back for one night (day) only to reclaim her lemon crown. Shout out to Queen Mo for holding the fort, it’s a tough job being funny but someone’s gotta do it.

Anyway, Saturday arrived and one late sub in (me) was immediately netted off against one sub out (RIP, get well soon hunny). Pre match talk was done by candlelight, energy was high and Steph assured us we’d have a better time than last week (false alarm, no one was miserable, cheer up Steph). Out into the light and Emily and Jess put on a stellar warm up routine whilst Annabel tested her reaction time (head shot avoided).

Game time. Honestly just gorgeous. The girls played a really joined up game, showed composure, worked for each other, and ultimately got the goals (praise the lord as it was only last week captain Steph was declaring that she’d given enough goals and now it was time for the team to take a turn). In fact, I almost delivered on the goal front, however, as I braced for impact I felt a ricochet off my stick and then heard a ping off the post (fortunately it transpired that 1) the ‘ping’ was back out into the field of play, and 2) Steph was referring to objectives/goals not the net/goals). So, it was in fact Grace and Libby that were on target with the goal, securing the 2-0 headline result. Stunning. Also stunning was the work ethic of Rachael (‘Do you spell your name with an A?’ ‘Aye’), Grace and Harry-girl. They were everywhere, intercepting, distributing, driving us forward and all round very deserving of their POM status’. Unsure of the LOM deciding factor, but admittedly, between netball booting, loud leaping and almost own goaling there were a couple of contending moments.

Overall a very jolly day out, 3 points on the board, a pizza topping on the floor and a very happy team (massive thank you to Steph and Luisa for everything you do and the team ethos you have created).
