M2 2-2 Wisbech Town Mens 2
This was the last game of the season for the M2s against Wisbech 2s. With only 1 point between the 2 teams, South will need a point to secure another season in the Div2 NW.
On top of the M2s regulars, we managed to recruit 2 new faces to play for us. Clement came back from exams to play his last game for South and George who just moved to Cambridge from Scotland. We knew we have a much stronger squad than the first fixture and we are confident that we will get a better result than that painful 4-3 lost.
Despite strong availability, we, as usual, will make it more complicated than it should. 2 days before the game, we loss both Hendo and Alex due to knee injuries and Douglas due to illness. Then, just before push back, we loss Alec after he got hit in the head by the ball.
The game started quite scrappy with both teams losing possession in the midfield, but South started growing into the game and more passes were connecting. Eventually, we broke the deadlock when Blair was found in the knuckle of the D by Ed and he calmly put the ball into the net, scoring his first goal of the season. However, Wisbech was determined to stay up, equalising in a short corner with a lucky defected shot. Despite the set back, South continued pushing and finally found their reward when Ali dribbled across the pitch and found Morris, who struck the ball sweetly to Ed in the far post. We ended the half with a 2-1 lead.
In the second half, we knew we have to play with the same intensity and we did. We recovered the ball aggressively and produced lots of good counter attacks opportunities, but, in usual M2s fashion, failed to find the final ball to convert it. Wisbech capitalised on our lack of ruthlessness. They won and converted a short corner to level the game again to 2-2. With 10 minutest to go, we defended our point bravely and eventually saw the game off securing the valuable point.
Ps Big thanks to the M1s and M4s support in the side line. Big thanks to L1s for the support and squashies.

George Skalka-Hall
Great game, very solid at the back. Even decided to give their forward a shot just to prove that they cannot score against us.

Ollie Lamming
Knocked Alec out to get more game time, luckily he did play very well. However, still get lemon as this behaviour is not encouraged.
