Squashies* Overrated?
Kim Cooil*other brands are available
Please note Squashies, if you ever read or decide to sponsor us, you are obviously not overrated. (But are you?)
The game started with a whizz and a bang. A late shout from the Haribo Sports Mix (me)- a true sweet for a true sports fan. LETS GO SPORTS FANS.
First half was tangfastic. Goals galore. Our resident Polo Mint (Maddy, not all there) was rushing all over pitch causing havoc. She ended up scoring two goals and having a stormer. I love a polo mint. Kerryn, lucozade tablet, was running around with her usual energy, worthy of this high sugar accolade.
The game was being played as if we were in candy land, fast paced and a little bonkers. Which meant Loopy (black jacks and fruit salad, here long before the Squashies), the legend kept us in the game. She made an amazing dive, tackling the ball from opposition on the way down. Tildy, atomic waste, was packing her slap hit punch left right and centre. The opposition soured as soon as they saw it. We won plenty of short corners thanks to the hard work coming from the midfield, including Mollie, the classic haribo, consistent, hardworking, a solid in sweet world.
As usual Kate was seen putting an absolute shift in, thus she is the infamous drumstick. She so good Squashies have been based upon her. An accolade all other sweets can only dream of.
There was some amazing play from Lucy, Frosties (Ginger but tans), Izzy S, silky smooth skills worthy of a galaxy bar and Izzy P, Jelly Baby for our resident junior. Hannah, (Snow Balls of course!!) was Squashing the opposition beating them every time.
Goals in the first half also came from Evie, Tropifrutti, a Mediterranean twist on a haribo classic for the sexiest tan and hype queen out there, as well as Izzy MP, skittles, multi flavoured for our multi talented forward whose been seen scoring reverse hits, drag flicks and straight strikes this season.
The second half was a little bit more Sour patches than Wham Bars. But it did allow more action for our defensive unit. Jenny like her chocolate counterpart, dairy milk chocolate bar, was her ever reliable self. A classic. You can turn to whenever you are in need.
Therese also had a stormer, likened to a Pascals Jet Plane. These iconic Kiwi sweets are firm gummies shaped as a plane. They, like Therese are adored by all, and Therese, like a plane, often lands on the floor. Nic, the Irish crisp Tayto, constantly putting in crunching tackles against the opposition as well as giving them some salt and vinegar when they started to push (they probably think Walkers are best… what do they know?!)
The game is over and Hannah (Snow Balls) made a cake based upon the team embodiment- Squashies. Overrated are you calling us? Absolutely not. If you look at their marketing this is what they say: “uniquely soft and foamy, deliciously moreish sweets. Since then we have added more and more fantastic flavours in the range to help bring joy and fun to the everyday. If happy was a sweet, it would be Squashies”. Cambridge South Ladies 1s if I ever did see. Perhaps they are worth the hype after all.
Whilst the season is over, and we are utterly heartbroken to lose three classic sweeties, Kate, Maddie and Lucy, we are bonded together for ever- after all you can’t go into a garage or a store without seeing 75 flavours of Squashies.
