L5 1-6 Cambridge University Ladies 4
Lou WalkerThe L5s had a tough game against a slick and speedy Cambridge University team. Everyone worked their socks off, especially Harry and Kat playing their second outfield game of the day having helped out the L6s at St Ives. It was a strong start for the University, who used their pace and passing skills to get two early goals. But the fives don’t let that worry them. They came back fighting, driving up the pitch and Emily scored an impressive ‘England-esque’ goal to put us back into the game. The students kept coming at us, but the South defence was determined and well-organised. Some fantastic tackles and chanelling skills were displayed by Lauren, Vicky, Rebecca and Rosie. There were some more goals in the second half but unfortunately all at the wrong end for us. Rosie won lemon for breaking out too early at a short corner and getting sent to the half way line.
Thanks and congratulations to our umpires Rhi who just passed her assessment, and Daniel who stepped up to umpire for the first time and did a great job.
