Ladies' 2nds get off to a great start with a win against Bury St Edmunds Ladies 3
The ladies 2s had a brilliant opening game to the season. A friendly away at Bury with a push back time of 10.15am was a shock to the system for most players, but it turned out to be goalorific for both teams and a chance to dust off the cobwebs for another season.
South took the lead in the 7th minute thanks for quick reactions from Ley at the near post. Another goal closely followed with some fabulous ball skills from Elaine. Unfortunately Bury managed to pull 2 back, despite some superb defending from Mallet and Emma S at the back.
Ley put South ahead again with excellent ball skills and quick reactions at the face of goal. No wonder she got MOTD! Bury clawed back again for 3-3 making the friendly feel more like a league game every minute.
Kendra spent most of the second half on the right running Bury defenders ragged - much to the delight of her mini fan club on the side! Whilst in the middle Heather and Elaine enjoyed controlling play with some fabulous passes to link up with the forwards.
Lauren and Lou G linked up well on the right for Kendra to put a cross in for Ash to smash into the goal. This secured the win for South who were now ready for a spot of squash and birthday cake kindly provided for them by wonder woman (aka Cath) who leaves the rest of us feeling inadequate with her preparations for match day.
Undefeated so far this season… not a bad start!
