L1 1-2 St Ives Ladies 2
Kylie BeasleyWe started the week with 15 players on the team sheet, but were down to 11 by the time the match started! We struggled in the first half and St Ives scored with a two-on-one against Loopy, but after an 'Oren' style half time talk, the troops rallied.
We played much better in the second half, with some great passing. Our defense were excellent, and Loopy made some great saves. Sadly St Ives scored from a 'clinical' short corner, leaving us 2-0 down.
We kept our heads up though and total exhaustion made Kylie push the ball on to a defenders foot in the D, rather than taking a shot. We won the short, and the ball was slipped to the left from Elaine to Naomi. Naomi passed to Bex on the left post who sent it home. 2-1.
We worked hard throughout the game, but St Ives deserved their win.
Points of Interest
- Lou and Bex played on despite injury. Lou may not have been able to hit the ball without her ribs feeling like they were on fire, and Bex was winded and couldn't really run very much but they carried on regardless.
- Naomi wins the Captains Imaginary Cupcake Award (perhaps it will turn in to a real cupcake one day).
- The Burleigh Arms match teas get 10/10. In fact we ate all the pizza and then went out for curry straight after.
- According to Serin, Kylie needs to stop back-chatting at the umpires, especially when one is her boyfriend.
