L3 3-2 Royston Ladies 4
Liz DunsbyAgain, the L3’s had yet more new faces and a team who hadn’t played together before. However, this didn’t deter the team spirit. Right from the start, South were continually pushing up into Royston’s half. However, it wasn’t until about ? of the way in that we managed to find the goal - by our new star striker Ann. Royston had a couple of breaks into our half from one of their good hitters, however our defence stayed strong, and managed to prevent Royston from scoring. It turns out Cath (who ended up in goal - again) must have been doing some practising ).
By halftime, we were 3-0 up! All thanks to Ann - great work!. Time for a goalie swap - Cath to newbie Shannon. Royston came back after the break playing stronger than before hand. Their marking was tighter and they seemed to be moving around more for the ball. This consequently made South work harder. Despite South’s hard work and determination to keep Royston out of our D, they did manage to find the goal on 2 occasions, but not before a cracking save from our new goalie Shannon (even Royston commented on how good the save was!).
Unfortunately, South were unable match their first half goal run during the second half. Despite having a couple of potential chances in the D, and keeping the pressure on well, we couldn’t manage any more goals.
However, still an excellent win for Cambridge L3’s, lets replicate this result next time girls - Bring on the next game!"

For some fantastic rolly-pollys, forward rolls and generally spending a lot of time on the floor
