Derby day! The 2s were out first for the warm up (and war paint) and seemed up for the challenge of the 1s. We opened the game strong with some excellent challenges in midfield. They were using the left side well to push forward with the ball and make attempts to attack.

Coral was always available on the left for hit outs which helped South 2s move the ball around the 1s' press. Despite some crazy hard shots, the defence stayed strong and worked well as a team to move the ball out of defence.

Alice was having the game of her life in goal, making some unbelievable saves. Eventually the 1s did get a goal midway through the first half. The 2s did not let this get them down. They held the 1s to 0-1 at half time.

The second half was slightly less impressive for the 2s. All the valiant defending in the first half had taken its toll and the 1s' had more shots at goal. At one point Ley, Esme and Lauren linked up well to get the ball into the D where we eventually won a short corner. The 2s finally got a shot at goal.

In the final minutes Lauren had our best chance of the game at the left post but unfortunately it went wide. Hannah was awesome on the left managing to hold the ball up in the difficult situations, and Polly and Jen made some decent tackles in defence to stop the 1s from scoring too many.

The final score doesn't do justice to the sweat, blood and war paint the 2s put in!!!
