A Great Start to the Second Half of the Season
Lottie AlvesA cold and early start for South in the first match back after the Christmas break, with things not going quite to plan when half the team started warming up on the wrong pitch and had to run across the school grounds with 15 mins to spare before the match began. As the wonderful GKs Emma and Loopy were unavailable I foolishly stepped into the goal keeping pads, and the match began. Despite some good breaks and excellent defending, a slightly rocky start to the first half (with some less than ideal goal keeping skills) saw Huntingdon up by 2 at half time. After a stirring 'let's get our heads in the game' half-time chat and some haribo, the L2s were fired up for the second half, and they dominated. The ball hardly reached South's half (much to my delight, who knew it was so stressful in goal ;) !!) and four goals (Lauren x2, Cara x1 and Serin x1 (get back in defence!)) later South had won the match comfortably. Brilliant play by all involved, but Serin for her all round brilliant play won MoM, with Iona and Florence winning joint LoM for their off and on pitch antics!
Well done everyone, and what a way to start the second half of the season!
