A Win is a Win
John GreavesA scrappy game decided by a single goal in the first half. A text book short corner from Skipper Greaves to Sharpshooter Shahbaz; drag flick; goal.
Nomads dominated large parts of the game and were denied by the usual battling defensive performance of the South 4ths, with everyone doing their bit. The opposition had few real chances from open play and GK Matt Gower was more than up to the task when called upon. Although Nomads had numerous short corners, they came to nothing as onrushing defenders prevented clean shots.
The home team did have a few chances but the vast Nomads keeper insisted in getting in the way from a couple of goalbound Greaves efforts, which would have made the scoreline more one sided than the match probably warranted.
Ash Dookun was a deserved Man of the Match, covering the ground, tackling, dribbling and constantly trying to open gaps. When Cambridge South had the ball we tried to make good use of it but were too often closed down by Nomads midfielders and were unable to break through on more than a few occasions.
Everyone in the sixteen man squad contributed, never giving up right to the end with the home goal under siege.
Three points. Move on.
