We Lost the Battle But We Shall Win the War

Emma Saynor

The day dawned a bright colourful display of autumn's finest but with an appropriate chill in the air! October 22nd was a day marked by many a South Ladies 2 as not to be missed, a big red cross on our calendars - a little like Christmas but with fewer presents. Our first match this season against Cambridge City had arrived.

Unfortunately, much like many a Christmas, it was full of enjoyment but tainted with a little disappointment

A match that the Ladies 2s can be hugely proud of, evidencing the massive progression we have already made this year. The passing was masterful, some beautiful soprano calling for the ball, a fantastic display of teamwork by all. We were perhaps a little too polite when it came to delivering the essential goals but then we are South girls and therefore always keen to be friendly to all and that's what counts isn't it?

Special mentions must go to Katie and her phenomenal runs, Mel and her clearing skills in defence, as well as a goal keeper who will remain nameless.

Lemon votes were hard to find, however. A few people struggled with the sideline use of bids, with Katie desperate to play in hers and Serin fighting with Meg to keep hers.

Sadly, what was a strong match played by the Ladies 2s ended in a two-nil defeat to Cambridge City. Fear not ladies, we'll get them next time!
