Frustration!

Lou Walker

Despite Jan's carefully calculated prediction of a five-nil win for the L3s, it didn't happen. The L3s are continuing to play well. The St Neots team included some powerful hitters and we quickly realised that putting them under pressure was key to reducing the power and accuracy of their passes. It was a slightly slower pace than some of our recent games. On a few occasions, marking wasn't tight enough and St Neots were able to take advantage when they found themselves with a spare player in our D.

Today's squad was forward-heavy, meaning that a few people were in a more defensive position than usual. Hayley, Harriet and Ani all did a fantastic job as defensive midfielders. There were some great runs from forwards Sarah, Emily and Catriona but no one found the goal.

Hayley was a deserved Man of the Match for hard work throughout and great tackles…a secret defender? Ania was making her usual impassable tackles in defence, which also earned her a few votes (plus a Lemon vote for 'rugby tackling' an opponent). However the clear Lemon was Liz, who forgot one of the very important captain’s duties of bringing half time Jelly Babies or Percy Pigs.

Individual playing skills, confidence and passes are continuing to improve. We need to keep making use of our pace, rather than slow down to our opponents.
