Taking the Law Into Our Own Hands
Sophie McComishTime to dust off the cobwebs...mixed hockey is back!
Laura Ludlow, goalscorer-extraordinaire of the Ladies' 1s, kindly invited CSHC to play against her work mixed team from Mills and Reeve law firm.
We arrived at St Catz pitch to discover that not only did Laura work at Mills and Reeve but also so does Pay-&-Play regular Freddie (and apparently so do Ollie, Hannah and Andy...who knew?!?)
What was left of CSHC after being pilfered by M&R got off to a strong start with great linking play from newcomers Nev, Jason and Amalia. Harry and Sophie had a couple of attempts on goal before newbie Rich slotted the first one in. Our defence was worked hard and despite strong play from Lou C, Tom and Janette and great efforts from Lou W in goal, M&R managed to squeeze a goal in before half time.
The second half saw more competitive play with end to end action. Solid midfield performances from Emma, Simon and Wilco saw the ball into the opposition half and resulted in Rich getting another brilliant goal. Although Mills and Reeve put in a few more waves of attack, we managed to hold them off thanks to great trackles from Serin and a stoppage on he goal line from Ali. Not content with just the two goals, Rich battled his way through the D one more time to secure his hat-trick and threaten Sophie's crown early in the season.
Big thank you to Laura and everyone who played from Mills and Reeve (and CSHC). We really enjoyed the match and agreed it was a great preamble to the season.
