The Cambridge South Vets first game in the newly expanded Home Counties League saw a good game which South just got the better of in the first half, with the score one all at half time. Keith Davidson scored the equaliser midway through the half after several South players had seen their efforts saved.

In the second half however Bury St Edmunds started to dominate the midfield and their efforts were rewarded by a further two goals that saw them win a keenly contested but friendly game three-one.
