Up Against It
John GreavesNot a great day, this, as a Kettering M4 team, substantially stronger than expected, scored the only goal of a tight game. This came from their impressive no. 55, used to life in a different hockey dimension…as he reminded the Cambridge South sweeper.
Highlights were:
Pete Dreuitt's quick thinking, throwing away his face mask as he exited the D, unaware of some obscure rule about being able to wear it up to the 22.
George Toynton's differently coloured eyes, his right one appearing an interesting shade of Wetherspoon's dark red after a late night altercation of which he claimed to recall zilch.
The away team had chances, many from the brilliant MoM Oli Anderson, but his efforts and various others from young whippersnappers Monck, Barton, Greaves and South, were all blocked by the exceptional Kettering keeper.
The crowd were enthusiastic throughout, urging their team to victory.
