Annabel Saves the Day
Olivia JinksSt Neots quickly intercepted the ball and charged up towards the D; however Hannah intercepted the ball and moved it out of the D, with Georgie receiving it and making another great run up the pitch. St Neots intercepted the ball and sent it flying back to the other end of the pitch but some super defending from Rebecca had it heading back. Fi received the ball from Rebecca and charged up the pitch, making some great tackles on the way before passing to Nicky, who took another cracking shot at goal. Sadly St Neots intercepted the ball again and sent it up towards our D, which began a succession of short corners which Annabel continued to save; however another goal slipped in.
During this time, Fi got hit really hard in the foot by one of the St Neots player’s huge hits, but continued to play like nothing had happened. After the series of short corners, Lauren made some great interceptions to move the ball up towards the goal and Claudia received her passes and tackled her way into the D with some impressive skills, and a pass from Claudia to Liz resulted in her scoring an amazing goal into the corner. St Neots continued to play well but as they moved up the pitch Laura was fantastic in her defending, with several tackles where she won the ball and sent it right back to the forwards. Ellie also made some great tackles and passes during the periods where St Neots ran offensively into the D. Towards the end of the match we began to tire and although Olivia continued to run up and down the pitch as per usual, St Neots kept scoring goals despite the defenders tireless efforts to switch possession towards the forwards and mids.
The match ended with MoM votes for Ellie and Annabel, with Annabel winning for her amazing goalie skills. LoM was split between Olivia for coming in the wrong kit and Fi for losing her keys and spending ten minutes looking for them before finding them in the front of her bag, with Olivia winning by one vote.
However apparently losing her keys wasn’t enough for Fi, and on the drive home her sat nav took Olivia, Annabel, Hannah and Ellie on a wonderful tour of Arbury before turning around and going in the right direction. We were all grateful we’d eaten lots of shepherd’s pie and chips before we left St Neots as it took us over an hour to get home!
Annabel Wilson
A natural goalie! Spectacular saves particularly as it was Annabel’s first go in goal
