Men's 1sts take a thumping from Ely City 1

Cambridge South let themselves down this weekend with a poor performance against a well organised and skilful Ely side.

The first fifteen minutes were fairly even but as soon as the first Ely goal hit the back of the net the South heads went down and the hockey deteriorated from there. Three more went in before half time and after the break matters only got worse as the only Ely player not to prove he was more than a match for us was the goalie, who barely had anything to do.

When the Ely keeper was tested he didn't come up to scratch and Nick Wong scored a late consolation goal for South.

Things will have to improve radically if we are to get any more points from this season.
