What Got Sent to the Press

Jan Brynjolffssen

Rather back to front, but instead of how it’s meant to work - i.e. skipper posts match report, match report gets condensed and sent out as a press release - this one is going in reverse. This was what we told the papers happened in the game:-

Cambridge South Men’s 1sts’ recent winning run came to a shuddering halt at second-in-the-table side Potters Bar.

The hosts proved to be a well-drilled side who handled South’s press well. They took the lead in the tenth minute. South had their chances in the remainder of the first half, winning penalty corners, but the routines didn’t click on this occasion.

The decisive period of the game was either side of the interval as Potters Bar struck twice and then South lost midfielder Mikey Karran to injury after he was hit in the face by the ball. The game restarted after a lengthy delay to treat Karran, but this spell had knocked the stuffing out of South who conceded a further two goals late on to give the final score an unreflective look.

South’s Man-of-the-Match was Sam Highfield for his composed play in the middle of the park.

Maybe the proper report will replace this eventually. If such a thing actually exists…
