We are the Champions!

Hannah Kenyon

We’ve played our games
Time after time
We’ve played in triangles
And passed down the line
And bad tackles
We’ve made a few
We’ve had our share of tough oppositions
But we’ve come through

We are the champions, my friends
And we’ll keep on scoring ’til the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
’Cause we are the champions of Div 2

We’ve taken our selfies
Even in wet and cold
We defended left, right and centre everywhere that needed it
Rarely concede a goal
We’ve taken our chances
And shots on goal
We challenge you to take on our forward line
We’re on a roll

And we win on and on and on and ooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn

We are the champions, my friends
And we’ll keep on scoring ’til the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
’Cause we are the champions of Div 2

Game specific info:

  • The first goal was textbook hockey, passing into the D, out and around, crossed to back post where Hazza taps it in behind the goalie.
  • The second goal was a strike from Abi straight into the top of the net.
  • Third goal came from Carly driving into the D and hitting it to the post where Hazza once again taps it in behind the keeper.
  • Kim practiced some amateur dramatics in midfield, jumping and dropping her stick when the ball came near. Next week, Broadway?
  • Hannah forgot that the pitch had boundaries and casually passed it straight off the line, earning her Lemon for the week.
  • Haz earned MoM for some cracking goals and doing ‘bits and stuff in the D’.
  • Dereham’s defender at the back managed to fend off many of our attacks but South are relentless and still managed to get three goals.
  • We had a few short corners which were close but kept getting thwarted by Dereham’s defence.
  • We played some fantastic hockey, moving the ball around the opposition.
  • They had a few counters and Bryony made some crucial saves.
  • Much jumping and celebrating happened and all of our sticks smell a bit like champagne now – WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
