Remember to Score

Harry Lewis

Chalky had a lovely opportunity during the game to finally score but decided to keep his goalless streak going. Don’t worry mate, there’s always next week…

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How long will it be, before Chalky scores a goal?

At Long Road?
At Nomads?
At Bury?
At Wilberforce Road?
At top-D, P-spot, at shorties, on post?

In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, Chalky’s goalless streak?

How about fouls?
How about fouls?
How about fouls?
Measure in fouls

Professional fouls
Professional fouls

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand chances so missed
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life of a goalless midfielder?

In games that he’ yearned
Or in times that he tried
In chances he burned
Or the way he’s denied

It’s time now, to score goals
Though the streak never ends
Let’s celebrate
Remember a time when Chalky scored a goal

Remember to score
(Oh, you got to, you got to remember to score)
Remember to score
(You know that scoring is something you love)
Remember to score
(score goals, make goals, assist goals)
Measure in goals
(Measure, measure your life in goals)

Remember to score
Remember to score
(Measure your life, measure your life in goals)

Actual highlights from the game:

  1. Ed managed to improve on his aerials, this time getting it over one person.
  2. We scored two goals from short corners, thanks to a ‘drag flick’ from Ed and a left slip deflection from Browne.
  3. Herb had a great game and scored a goal, AND kept his shoes on for the whole game.
