It was a beautiful sunny day in Bishop’s Stortford. We fielded a team of highly experienced players keen to get back to hockey now that it’s been decriminalised.

Things didn’t start especially well, with a lack of pace and sloppy tackling. However during the course of each half, composure and structure grew. I suspect if each half were an hour long, we might have won.

There were a number of shots on target, however their keeper did a stunning job of keeping all but one out - a well judged opportunity on the far post from Thomas Grove. Our keeper Michael G did a cracking job, saving a number of excellent shots, including one of the author’s.
