Hello Again, Hockey

Emma Campbell

On a sunny Saturday, South were unprepared to feel so hot and possibly also unprepared to do all that running. So to hold out until three-quarters of the way through the match before letting a goal in was actually pretty good.

Niamh’s debut for the 3s&rquo; defensive line covered her in glory, earning her Woman of the Match.

Kat also had a pretty epic first game for the 3s, seeming to find all that running really quite easy. She also proved she’s happy to sacrifice various body parts for the good of the team and battled on through smashed ankles and cut hands.

Hayley has apparently had a baby since she last played hockey, but you wouldn’t know to look at how she played up front. New baby, new position - and both in her stride.

Loopy saved our bacon a few times, making some quite spectacular saves throughout the match and keeping the score sheet fairly even.

Tabs was super in the middle and got some MoM votes for constantly putting the opposition under pressure.

The rest of the team basically played brilliantly, except when we were tired. Which was from five minutes in. Good job we’ve got fitness sessions on top of hockey training this season! When we’ve got that sorted, we’re pretty sure all the excellent linking will transfer to goals and we will have a great season ahead of us.

LoM goes to Emma, for asking how long a hockey half was (she thought it was supposed to be 35 mins, but that today they were each at least an hour).
