The Ladies 2s most certainly made up for their lack of goals in their prior match last weekend with a smashing seven-nil win against Spalding 2s.

Before each game we set ourselves targets. This weeks were:

1. Win (accomplished).
2. Go out hard and score within the first five minutes (accomplished, courtesy of Dani Arnold with a well-timed assist to Jess Foord who gave a speedy slip in to the goal).
3. Communicate (accomplished…although a near perfect performance left Paul speechless by the end of the match!)

By half time we were five-nil up thanks to a further four goals. Standing ready at the goal posts, birthday girl Rebecca Frith got a lovely assist from Jess across the face of the goal and Rebecca struck it into the corner with pure joy and elation at scoring on her birthday. A third goal came from Jess Foord (well assisted with a determined run and reverse hit at the top of the D by Nichola Fennell). The fourth goal came from captain Dani after a messy exchange of passes right in front of the goal between the goalkeeper herself and the defenders. Stopped narrowly on the line by a defender, Dani swept it strongly into the goal. A fifth goal from Jess saw the team going into half time with a 5-0 lead.

Going into the second half, we ceased to relax and show the opposition any mercy, securing the win with a further two goals from Rhi Davies. A well timed hit at the penalty corner from Rhi ended up undoubtedly in the goal. The second was a spectacularly angled hit from the side of the D right across the goalkeeper’s toes and into the corner.

Player of the Match was unanimously awarded to Jess for scoring a fabulous hat-trick, with great attacking and pivoting round the D! Lemon undoubtedly went to Caitlin P-D for her inability to comprehend any 5m rules!

With newly found confidence, we hope to continue such success.
