As luck would have it...

... the rain stopped just before the L1s/L2s friendly team took on Cambridge City 3s at midday on a rather wet and stormy Saturday.

In the first half, City and South started the game strong. (At some point) City put South's defence under pressure sliding a ball across the front of goal for it to be swept home by a City player. But, the L1s/2s rallied and with some beautiful touches on the ball, South forwards and mids were streaking towards City's D and Izzy had a beautiful reverse stick touch on the ball in the D to bring the score 1 - 1 (sorry I can't recall who delivered the stunning pass into the D).

South's second goal came from a similar ending as City's first - a South player was there, waiting for the ball to come across goal and it did... the goal was open, the pass was accurate (again I can't remember who was who)... and then a foot of a City's defender got in the way.... Penalty flick!!! Alice delivered the goods (a sneaky flat ball to the left of the goal)and the penalty flick was converted into a goal and a 2-1 score to South at half time.

The second half began with City putting immense pressure on the South side. But the L1s/2s did not shy away from the pressure! City did convert on a penalty corner... there was a green card for City... and then the end whistle with the score at 2-2.

All in all a great friendly game leaving the South team all jovial and happily dry!
