Was it Cambridge Uni 2’s? Or was it Nomads?

Annie Macdonald

Having lost two L1’s to the London Marathon (congrats Jess and Jenny) and no captain Kim. We arrived at Wilberforce.

In true L1 fashion, we started the game on top of them with the first 15mins in their quarter. Short corners were coming like there was no tomorrow. Drag flicks from Izzy were flying towards goal and sadly saved.

I fell over no where near the ball.

As Uni 2’s (or as they called themselves “Nomads”. Very confusing I know!) settled into the game, they had some speedy break aways and managed to sneak a goal in.

Half time came and it was 1-0 to Uni 2’s. Quick team talk, highlighting that we needed to pass purple to purple as we had practised in training, we went back on.

Going out hard, having to make lots of runs to lose Uni players who were man marking us tightly. Unfortunately “Nomads” won a short corner. They flicked the ball up and it hit Rosins leg by the post. Slightly questionable as to whether it would have gone into the goal or missed but a flick was awarded and Uni 2’s got their second goal.

I fell over again.

Play continued, a lovely pass down the side from Anna to Annie, who got the ball to Izzy across the D who had a shot on goal and a tap into the goal from Harriet saw us our goal. The score was now 2-1.

It started raining and I fell over again.

As always Loopy had some cracking saves. Consistent good defensive play, prescanning, some fab one touch passes from Anna gained her a well deserved man of the match.

In summary:

Midfield subs? None. Fitness? Limited. Hotel? Trivago.

(Robyn also forgot the kit bag at Wilby after the game. However refrained from mentioning it until the lemon votes were cast… coincidence? I think not haha)
