L4s vs Haverhill 2s

Emily Stevenson

An early start meant avoiding the rain that set in moments after the final whistle. South came in to the game high in confidence after a strong win last week. From the whistle, south pressed forward looking to continue their free scoring form. Haverhill’s defence and keeper put in a strong performance to continually frustrate the south front line.
Having controlled possession and territory in the early exchanges, south were countered with a fast break that lead to the away side stealing the advantage towards the end of the first half.
Last week we managed to fight back on multiple occasions and so heads did not drop. Into the second half we continued to attack and create chances. Every now and then, Haverhill made a fast break and applied pressure. Fortunately, Cassie and her defence brought their A game and held out to keep south in with a shout. Despite constant pressure and strong build up, South were unable to find the all important equaliser. A frustrating defeat 1-0.
Hannah was awarded POM for general all round good work.
LOM went to Rhi, who wasn’t playing but was obviously keen as she started umpiring carrying her stick.
