Two Divisions

Alec Alston

Division 4NW does seem to be one that is made up of two sub divisions, with the M4s challenging to be top of the higher sub division and the M5s challenging to be the top of the lower one.

Today's opponents are at the top of the upper division and showed why, by being just that fraction of a second quicker - making runs into space, passing, and closing players down.  The margins were small, but enough to take game away from the M5s.  That said, there were great passages of play, skill and endeavour by the M5s, putting those higher placed teams in the Division on notice that they can't afford to relax.

The final score line did flatter Long Sutton as for the first part of each half the M5s were holding their own.  Good marking in defence, the midfield playing the percentage pass and providing support, and the forwards making tireless runs giving options in attack.  However, an injury to Mike in goal following some great saves in the first half, and a couple of green cards in the second half, proved to be key turning points, thereby allowing Long Sutton to grab the ascendency and run away with the game.

Never a Lung Sutton stick and also earned a green-coloured sit-down.
