L4 3-1 Ely City Ladies 2

Erin Weatherstone

On the back of our strong 7-1 win last week we arrived at Ely eager to get another win under our belts. Thankfully the weather had improved from last week and the sun was shining.

The first half got off to a strong start with South making some good runs and attempts on goal. Unfortunately Ely had a break early on and managed to score but we kept our heads up and with Ginny’s motivating comments from the sideline of ‘get moving girls’ we scored an equaliser. It was a lovely cross from Kea which was positioned perfectly for Emily S to tap into the goal and continue her scoring streak!

Halftime score: 1-1

Stuffed with half time Haribos and more of Ginny’s wise words we were ready for the second half.  We’d all adjusted to the speed to Ely’s pitch in the second half with strong play across the defence, midfield and forwards. We were rewarded mid way through the second half with a fab goal from Amelia. Amelia came through for south again with another goal which was beautifully set up by a fab pass from Klaudia and a reverse cross from Emily S.

Final score 3-1!!!

POM was for Sammy for great play in the midfield. LOM was closely contested this week between myself and Laurie. Ultimately my end of match tumble over my own feet wasn’t enough to stop Laurie being crowned LOM for asking ten minutes before the meet time for someone to bring her a spare bandana.

Well done girls!
