Sweet dreams are made of these

Owen Russell

I feel a bit like Dick Dastardly. The evil baddie, a proper moustache twirler…. “And I would have gotten away with it if wasn’t for your pesky kids!”

I must have one of those faces, that looks like it needs a card. (One only a mother could love). Granted - it wasn’t one of my best tackles (but that is hardly a saying something). I don’t think they would have scored - we were about level with the top of their D.

Anyways - I want to say that CSHC M4’s came out the blocks flying, playing champagne hockey, I want to say that - but if I did, it’d be a lie. What I will say is that the first 10 mins were some of the most uninspiring hockey we’ve played all season, really disappointing! Luckily we weren’t punished.

It did click though - Andy down the left buzzing around beat the man, got the ball in the D a blocked shot (from Phil??) was saved but the rebound fell nicely to Joe - cool as you like picked his spot and buried it.

Second goal came from Secret Short Corner Routine number 7 - where *******, Passes to ****** and *****, *****, ********** *** **** ******, expertly **** ** ******* Goal!!!! (this may be hidden by the Editor before going to print) [Ed - not sure the opponents know our players by name, to be honest]

Oppo got one back from a Shorty. Their only real chance - despite some huffing and puffing (a lot of chests out :-)) from them. All ably dealt with by the experienced South back line.

2-1 at half time and whilst well on top its fair to say we were a bit nervous, only one in it. And as mentioned M4's were not playing their best.

It was a bitty half of hockey, not much flow or cohesion - we had a mighty high number of chances but were unable to find the killer touch. It was nearly there but the final ball was just missing its mark or mis controlled. We had a fair few more short corners but they came to nothing.

Nerves were settled and the points secured with two quick goals about 5 mins from time. First by Jimmy - a clean strike form the top of the D after being set up by ........I have no idea I wasn't paying enough attention. And the fourth expertly stuck away by Andy from a precise cross from Joe.

3 points collected makes it a good day at the office. Though a better performance next time please

For choosing to put his feet up rather than venture to St Neots
