Long awaited report

It is another draw for the M6s against the Bourne Deeping team, despite the result it certainly felt like one of the best performances in recent matches, if not one of the best in the season.

In the first half the M6s started out strong, as they started putting their training to practice by making good passes and maintaining ball possession, in addition to some great interceptions and fantastic defending as well. With this performance the M6s were the better team for the first half, in fact with the number of missed goal shots it was a bit surprising an open score wasn’t made in the first interval.

For the second half, the match was much closer, as it seems the Bourne Deepings were getting more aggressive and angrier (to Sean and their own young team members). Although it felt like the M6s were still having the edge, their movement started to get sluggish, and combined with a brief loss of focus the Bourne Deepings managed to score a surprising opening goal midway the second half. Regardless of conceding a goal the M6s not only recomposed themselves but started to ramp up their offensive, which led to a great equalizer near the end of the game, courtesy of Harry’s assist pass and chairman John’s finishing goal strike. After the equalizer the M6s spirit was high, the momentum of the match was clearly going into M6’s way, a winning goal for M6 was sure to come if not for the match ending whistle being blown.

Regardless of the result, everyone in M6 deserves a praise, but still there are some that are worth highlighting:

  • Wilko (MoM) and Alex (MoM 2nd place) great carrying of the ball through the middle of the pitch plus with good interceptions, contributing to M6s maintaining ball possession.
  • Sean (welcome back) and Will fantastic defending with those earlier interceptions and safety strikes down the pitch
  • Harry and Joe for making those runs and getting the ball into the D

Drama section:

  • John got injured in the first half, the opponent hit his leg out of frustration because of how well the M6s were doing. Although John failed to pull off a Neymar
  • James Yu (LoM) trying to be helpful, instead accidentally stole the opponent’s stick and glove (in his defense, he mistook them as John’s when the owner handed those to him when John was to be carried off the pitch)
  • Sean still manages to get into an argument with an angry opposing player

The M6s have clearly shown great improvement and hopefully they can carry this moment forward to achieve that elusive first win for the season.
