It was a lovely day and a lovely game

This Saturday was the return of the anticipated tough match against Bourne Deeping. We were well prepared after a fantastic breakfast - thank you Katie for hosting. With our clubs umpires officiating (thank you to JJ and Adam for their time!), we were all set and ready to play our best possible game of hockey.

With a strong team talk from Dani; we started hard and played our game. Just as the captain ordered. Jess scored in the 1st 5 mins taking the keeper 1 on 1 and rocketed the ball into the roof of the net. Clearly a contender for goal of the season!

Our attack and mids kept the pressure up, and at one point, I think we had 5 penalty corners in a row - a real credit to Bourne's defence.

But South kept the pressure up and unrelenting and I don't remember Bourne Deeping coming into our D at all in the 1st half.

We maintained pressure in 2nd half with strong attacking play from Liandi, Rhi and Tiff. After many narrow misses, Dani scored from a lovely pass across goal from Katie. Shortly after, she tried to take on the keeper and ended up straddling her!

There was some lovely transfers round the back from Nic, Jenny, Niamh and Charlotte with some wonderful runs up the wing from Sarah and Rachel.

At one point the ball came to towards the D and with a squeal Bryony completely miss kicked the ball. The defence were on fire as usual and made sure there was nothing to worry about.

It was a lovely day and a lovely game.

Votes for POM went to Rachel, Jess and won by Sarah for always stepping in front and silky smooth passes.

LOM was shared by Dani and Bryony.
